WHAT IS KIZOMBA?:
Kizomba is a partner dance originating from Angola with influences from nearby countries and the caribbean. Since 2012, Kizomba’s popularity has been growing and is now danced all over the world. Today you will find many different styles of Kizomba have evolved with their own unique look and feel as inspired artists are excited to share the art.

GOAL:
The goal is for students to leave each class with a developing understanding of Kizomba; gaining knowledge of it’s music and nuances in their journey of becoming well rounded dancers with a strong understanding of musicality, technique, variation of moves and overall connection and feel of the dance.

Class is open to all levels but will be geared to building a strong base of fundamental and core steps of Kizomba.

Whether it’s your first time dancing kizomba or you have been taking classes the aim is for all students to walk away learning from each class. From the first class students will be able to leave the studio and go directly to the dance floor with confidence!

YOU WILL LEARN:
✔ Fundamentals & Basics.
✔ Body movements.
✔ Connection Exercises
✔ Follow/Lead techniques.
✔ Social Dance & Cultural Etiquette.
And more…

CLASSES WILL INCLUDE:
Warm Up: Learn and strengthen your dance through repetition of the same basics & fundamental steps. This encourages muscle memory, builds strength and quality of movements that are the glue to your Kizomba dance.

Combos: New and old moves used in different sequences; shown with variations and accommodations that play on feeling and musicality.

Practica: Explore moves from class, ask questions and just dance!

**We will also do frequent exercises to help increase connection between partners, body movements as well as different techniques for both leads and follows.

EXPLORATION:
Each class is geared to enrich your knowledge of Kizomba in as many areas as possible.

Classes will look beyond just Kizomba and explore Semba (Kizomba’s parent dance), tarraxinha and learn about other styles like urbankiz were influenced by Kizomba; with explanations of the differences and similarities of each dance as well as the music.

OVERALL:
This class is made for students to get the most out of their journey into Kizomba.

Classes will focus on technique, implementing moves, accommodating moves to affect different feeling/emotion, musicality, dance etiquee, understanding social dance and show, cultural aspects of how kizomba is danced around the world and other concepts.

SHARING IS CARING:
I invite all students to share feedback, things they would like to work on and ask lots of questions!
This allows me to create lessons that will maximize your learning.

PRIVATES:
I am available for private lessons!
One of the best ways to improve through tailored instruction.
If you are interested message me to set up a time!

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Christina has been dancing Kizomba for the past 4 years and has dance backgrounds in Salsa, Bachata, Jamaican dancehall, as well as other styles of dance.

She has danced Kizomba around the world, Paris, South Africa, Mozambique to name a few. She has attended festivals taking workshops with top international instructors, taken private lessons and jumps at any chance to dance and learn more about Kizomba.

Her attention to detail, patience and understanding of dance and how people move create an optimal learning experience for her students. She is all about feeling and fun, while still paying attention to accuracy and technique. Her ability to accommodate to her teaching, allows each student the opportunity to find out what works for them and how their own body likes to move.

Christina has also been a long time organizer of events in the Bay Area and hosts her own monthly Kizomba party, as well as organizing and collaborating other parties and workshops.
